Skream's new 12" Repercussions Of A Razorblade / A New Dawn is hot as fuck.
I'm going to pick up the vinyl from my local record store tomorrow night, but for now....
the dl is here
but you should really do this one justice and pick it up on VINYL. especially skream's joints, i think he engineers them just to cut the thickest sounding 12s around.
in other news, i've been putting my korg dss-1 to good use making some new tracks lately. i can't stress how much i love ableton live for for running outboard gear into. another fun thing i've gotten hooked on is randomly playing old records into ableton over a half built song. most of the time it sounds horrible, but when the notes hit right, it's like magic. it's like sampling but in reverse with built in random chance.
nerd. out.
That 12" does have some lovely bollock-swinging gutter funk to it.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize there was an Anthem in NW.
Glad to hear your thoughts re: Ableton / outboard. I've been trolling eBay / Trade-Up for good cheap shit to do exactly that with lately.
seconded on the last paragraph. i was messing with running midi out of live to my virus and recording the audio back in. i kept getting frustrated with the delay it introduced. i couldn't figure out a way to trim the beginning of the sample without warping it (which i feel i shouldn't have to).
ReplyDeleteif you move it to arrange view, i guess you can just turn off the grid and nudge it back, but i wanted to keep it in session view to play with it. i just don't remember having as much of a problem syncing recorded audio when i used to do tracks all in logic with like 50% external gear.
